Deadly shooting in Newark under investigation, officials say

An investigation was underway after a man was fatally shot in Newark Monday evening, officials said.
A spokeswoman for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the shooting happened in the area of Bergen Street but said she could not release any other details Monday night.
The shooting was under investigation by the office and more information was expected to be released at a later time.
